Focus on:
Build Salford
Salix Homes is about much more than just bricks and mortar, we want to help people transform their lives and build themselves a bright future.
During the past year, we have supported 255 people into employment and training through a range of initiatives including the successful Build Salford project.
First launched in 2017, Build Salford is a traineeship programme which supports 16-24-year-olds into a career in construction. Trainees gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed through classroom-based learning modules delivered by industry experts, alongside on-site, practical hands-on training.
Salix Homes is part of a consortium of organisations, including construction companies and other housing providers, who run the Build Salford initiative, which has helped young people across Salford find apprenticeships, training, and jobs in the construction industry.
Salford has double the national average of 16 and 17-year-olds not in employment, education or training (NEETS), but thanks to the success of Build Salford we’re helping to reverse this trend and change the fortunes of young people in our communities.
