Focus on... Springboard

From children’s dance troupes to social events for the elderly, our Springboard grant programme has provided a lifeline, particularly during the challenges of the pandemic, to local projects that boost community spirit, promote health and wellbeing, reduce isolation and improve the environment.

During the past year, we’ve donated more than £32,000 to dozens of groups and projects across Salford that are making a real difference in our communities.

One such group is Buile Hill Mansion Association, which was hailed the winner of our annual Springboard Heroes Awards.

This dedicated group of volunteers are on a mission to restore the historic Buile Hill Park Mansion and surrounding buildings and bring it back into public use, which will have a huge benefit to the Salford community and beyond.

We’ve donated £1,900 to support the cause, which has been used to organise a number of community events and continue with the restoration project of the historic Sensory Garden, which was originally opened in the 1960s for park visitors with impaired senses.

Focus on... Children’s safety

Schoolchildren used their artistic talents to help raise awareness about the dangers posed by construction sites.

Children at Willow Tree Primary School designed a series of health and safety posters that we put up around our Neighbourhood development in Seedley South, which is currently under construction.

Construction workers from the site gave an assembly to the children about site safety to highlight the potential dangers in and around construction sites, which prompted the children to create their own safety posters, showing the hazards associated with playing on building sites.

Neighbourhood is situated in the heart of a well-established community, so the children’s posters on site have really helped highlight the importance of safety on construction sites.

The children really took the message about site safety on-board and the project presented a wonderful opportunity for them to have their artwork publicly showcased within their own community.

Neighbourhood is a real community-focused development, which will bring 157 new and affordable homes for local people, so we’re committed to continuing those community connections and working closely with the local school and other organisations.
