Introduction
Welcome to Salix Homes’ review of 2022-23 which showcases our performance and achievements over the past year, explains how we’ve responded to the challenges we’ve faced and sets out our key priorities for the future.
We’re about so much more than just providing homes, we deliver services to improve lives and enhance communities, as well as provide support to help our customers to live, grow and thrive.
Social value plays a huge part of our business activity, so within this report you can also find out more about the difference we’ve made for our customers and communities that goes beyond bricks and mortar - from supporting people into work to investing in grassroots community projects.
Now more than ever, it’s crucial that our customers are at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about ensuring their voices are heard, listening to what they have to say, and providing opportunities for them to help shape and improve our services, so you’ll also be able to find out more about our approach to customer engagement within this report.
The past year has not been without its challenges, for both the housing sector and our organisation, but we’re proud to report another year of strong progress and growth, strengthening our relationship with customers and improving homes and communities across Salford.
Building Safety continues to be a key focus, and our building safety journey took another step forward when we were named as one of the first housing associations to achieve Building a Safer Future Charter Champion Status.
Sustainability is at the forefront of our organisation and this year has seen us approve our Sustainability Strategy, setting out our green ambitions and roadmap to Net Zero. Construction at our eco-friendly apartment block Greenhaus continues at pace, which will be an exemplar for energy efficient and affordable homes.
Of course, the challenges facing our customers, our organisation, and our sector continue to grow, with the cost of living crisis, access to safe, decent homes, climate change and the housing crisis all remaining high on our agenda.
However, we’re confident we can continue to face these challenges pro-actively and positively to meet the demands of a modern world – for our customers, our communities and our colleagues.
Looking ahead, we will soon be launching our Corporate Plan, setting out our key priorities for 2023-25, which aims to take us back to our roots and refocus on our core values to provide good quality homes and services to our customers.
We’re committed to ensuring we know who our customers are and are meeting their needs with safer, cleaner, greener homes and neighbourhoods, while ensuring we continue to be well-governed, financially viable and an inclusive and supportive employer, so we can deliver a housing service in Salford we’re all proud to be part of.
